Rune magick has no cost. It works on your own mind, not on the world directly, so nothing is spent and nothing is owed.
A student's question
A student once asked what rune magick costs, since a poor person cannot simply become wealthy by magick. That part is true: you cannot become wealthy by performing some magick. That is not how magick works.
Why there is no cost
There is no cost, and the reason is worth understanding. When you activate runes, what you affect is your own mind, not the world directly — so nothing is spent and no energy is owed. The runes change your mind and your beliefs, and your beliefs change your life on their own. Nothing in that breaks a law of the universe.
Wealth comes from the mind
Consider wealth. Take all money from everyone, give each person the same sum, and ten years later the distribution looks much as it does today: some accumulate, others lose it. Wealth is a condition of the mind — of belief, worldview and attitude. Change the mind and the circumstances follow.
The same is true of every other area of life: health, relationships, spirituality, power, and what you are capable of in the world at all. It comes from your mind and from how you see yourself, and magick is a method for altering those things. Which is also why you should not imagine it is entirely safe — what you are reprogramming is your own being.
