Aegishjalms are eight-rayed signs of protection, often built from the rune Algiz turned in a circle. The earliest come from the Icelandic Galdrabók, of about 1600.
What are aegishjalms?
The earliest source of this kind of symbol dates back to around the year 1600 in an Icelandic book called Galdrabók (Book of Magic). This form of magick often consists of the rune Algiz or a similar shape, positioned in a circular motion, often with 8 rays. This 8-pointed shape is present in many systems and traditions including Sumerian and is a powerful magical concept.
