Mjollnir, the Hammer of Thor

Mjolnir (also Mjollnir) is the hammer of Thor, the most famous treasure of Norse mythology. Made by the dwarves Brokk and Sindri, it never misses and always comes back to Thor's hand. People wore small copies of it for protection.

What is Mjolnir?

Mjollnir is the hammer of Thor, the most famous of all Norse treasures. It was forged by the dwarf brothers Brokk and Sindri as part of a wager with Loki, and though its handle came out too short — Loki, in the shape of a fly, had stung Brokk as he worked the bellows — it was still the mightiest weapon in the nine worlds. Thrown, it never misses its mark and always returns to the hand that cast it.

A holy hammer

More than a weapon, Mjollnir was holy. It was raised to hallow births, weddings and funerals, and it is the storm itself when Thor swings it against the giants. Its likeness was worn across the Viking world — a small hammer of silver or iron hung at the throat for protection, an answer of the old faith to the cross.

It belongs to Thor, who will use it against the World Serpent at Ragnarok.
