Kvasir is the wisest being in Norse mythology, made from the spittle of the gods when the Aesir and Vanir made peace. Two dwarves killed him and brewed his blood into the Mead of Poetry.
Who is Kvasir?
Kvasir is the wisest of all beings, born from the truce between the Aesir and the Vanir: to seal their peace, the two god-families all spat into a vat, and from that mingled spittle Kvasir was shaped. So great was his wisdom that no one could ask him a question he could not answer, and he wandered the worlds teaching.
The Mead of Poetry
His wisdom brought his death. Two dwarves, Fjalar and Galar, murdered Kvasir and brewed his blood with honey into the Mead of Poetry, the drink that grants poetry and wisdom to any who taste it. The mead passed to giants and at last was won by Odin, so that the gift of Kvasir's wisdom — the inspiration of poets — still flows in the world.
His killers were dwarves; the mead passed at last to Odin.
