Brisingamen is the shining necklace of the goddess Freyja, made by four dwarves. Loki once stole it, and Heimdall fought him on the rocks to win it back.
What is Brisingamen?
Brisingamen is the radiant necklace of the goddess Freyja, the most prized of all her treasures. Four dwarfs made it — Alfrigg, Dvalinn, Berlingr and Grer — and she won it from them. Its beauty is bound up with her own as goddess of love and desire.
Loki and Brisingamen
Loki, ever her tormentor, once stole it in the shape of a fly and then a seal, and Heimdall wrestled him upon the rocks to win it back. The necklace is a reminder that Freyja's gifts are never given lightly, and never held without a price.
It belongs to Freyja; it was won back by Heimdall.
