Study › Magick › How does rune magick work?
Rune magick works through attention and energy: where attention goes, energy flows. While you look at a rune formula, your attention brings it alive.
Attention and energy
Through attention and energy. There is a saying: where attention goes, energy flows. Wherever you place your attention, your energy follows — attention is how you direct it.
That energy is what makes the runes work. While you look at a rune formula, your attention brings it alive and it is working. When you stop looking, it stops.
Like a radio station
Think of a radio. Each station plays different music, and the music changes how you feel. Runes work the same way: the qualities of the runes, and the intention behind the formula, act on you while you are tuned to them.
Why a ritual matters
Activating a formula with a ritual plants it in your subconscious, so you stay on that station for as long as you need — weeks, months, or, with a properly made runic amulet, years.
